SVRN, Inc. has appointed Patrick O’Kain as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective November 3, 2026. This leadership change follows the resignation of David Schwed, who has served as COO since October 2025. Schwed will transition to the role of Senior Advisor effective January 1, 2027. The appointment of O’Kain is significant as he brings over 20 years of diverse experience across venture capital, law enforcement, and national security.
SVRN, Inc. operates in the deep sea foreign transportation of freight sector, focusing on managing digital assets and infrastructure. The company has been transitioning from its previous identity as OceanPal Inc. to a more technology-driven approach under its current name. This leadership change is expected to enhance SVRN's operational capabilities as it continues to grow in the digital asset space.
According to the filing dated November 4, 2026, O’Kain joins SVRN from Borderless Capital, where he served as General Partner. He was instrumental in developing and managing the firm’s venture fund business. His previous experience also includes leading KPMG’s crypto advisory practice and serving as a Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Justice, focusing on cryptocurrency investigations.
In his new role, O’Kain will oversee SVRN’s operations, product strategy, and corporate development. His appointment comes at a time when SVRN is expanding its digital asset treasury management and integrating acquired businesses. CEO Salvatore Ternullo expressed confidence in O’Kain’s ability to accelerate the business, citing their previous collaboration in helping financial institutions enter the digital asset market.
“Trust between senior leaders often takes months to form. I’ve known Patrick for years, and scaling KPMG’s crypto advisory practice with him is why I’m certain he is the right hire to accelerate the business,” Ternullo stated. O’Kain also emphasized the importance of retaining control over assets and information in an increasingly AI-driven world, aligning with SVRN's mission.
Schwed has played a critical role in guiding SVRN through its transition and will continue to provide advisory support in technology and security as he moves into his new position. This strategic leadership shift is expected to position SVRN for continued growth and innovation in the deep sea foreign transportation of freight industry.
The filing does not say what happens next.
