Aprea Therapeutics, Inc. has announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2026, revealing significant advancements in its clinical trials and a solid financial position. The company, which specializes in precision medicine for oncology, reported a cash balance of $37.8 million as of September 30, 2026, with a cash runway expected to extend into the first quarter of 2028. This financial stability allows Aprea to continue its focus on developing targeted therapies for biomarker-defined cancers.
According to the filing dated November 4, 2026, Aprea is actively advancing its oral WEE1 inhibitor, APR-1051, which is currently undergoing a Phase 1 clinical trial known as ACESOT-1051. The trial has expanded from three to nine clinical sites, and the company anticipates enrolling six to ten patients per month in the upcoming quarter. This expansion is aimed at enhancing the clinical development of APR-1051, particularly for patients with endometrial cancers, including uterine serous carcinoma.
“We continue to make meaningful progress in advancing APR-1051 towards our goal of developing a differentiated, potentially best-in-class WEE1 inhibitor for patients with biomarker-defined cancers,” said Oren Gilad, Ph.D., President and CEO of Aprea. He emphasized the encouraging early clinical activity observed in patients, which supports the company's strategy of advancing APR-1051 as a single agent while exploring combination therapies to enhance its efficacy across various tumor types.
The filing also noted that updated interim results from the ACESOT-1051 trial will be presented at the upcoming 38th EORTC-NCI-AACR Symposium on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics in Barcelona, scheduled for November 20, 2026. This presentation will include new clinical data and insights from patients enrolled since the last data cutoff in May 2026.
Aprea’s focus on biomarker-defined cancers positions it uniquely within the pharmaceutical preparations industry, particularly as it seeks to address unmet medical needs in oncology. The company aims to evaluate APR-1051 in combination with pembrolizumab for HPV-positive head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, further expanding its clinical applications.
As for the next steps, Aprea is on track to select the dose for Part 2 of the APR-1051 study in the first half of 2027, which will focus on dose optimization. The company’s strategic direction, supported by its recent financial results, indicates a commitment to executing its clinical development strategy while creating long-term value for both patients and shareholders.
Overall, Aprea Therapeutics' Q3 2026 results reflect a proactive approach to drug development in a competitive landscape, emphasizing the importance of innovation in the pharmaceutical sector.
