Cadeler A/S has announced a significant contract to support the transportation and installation of turbines at the Dogger Bank C offshore wind farm in the UK. This project marks a crucial step in the development of the world's largest offshore wind farm, which is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power approximately six million homes annually.
The Dogger Bank Wind Farm is being constructed in three phases, each with a capacity of 1.2GW. Cadeler's new installation vessel, Wind Apex, will join the turbine installation campaign starting in the third quarter of 2027. This deployment will be Wind Apex's first following its delivery from the shipyard.
According to the filing, "Wind Apex will work alongside the project’s existing installation vessel to provide additional vessel capacity to support the transportation and installation of Dogger Bank C’s 87 offshore wind turbines." Cadeler's A-class vessels are designed to support both foundation and turbine installation campaigns, combining high deck load capacity with one of the industry's highest crane capacities.
The Dogger Bank C project is part of a joint venture between SSE, Equinor, and Vårgrønn, with SSE leading the development and construction. Cadeler has previously collaborated with SSE on various offshore wind projects, including Beatrice and Seagreen in the UK.
Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler, expressed pride in supporting such an ambitious project, stating, "We value the long-standing relationships we have built with our customers and see these contracts as a reflection of the trust they place in Cadeler to execute large-scale offshore wind projects safely and efficiently."
Alan Borland, Turbine Director at Dogger Bank Wind Farm, noted the importance of securing additional vessel capacity, emphasizing that it is a significant step in delivering this world-leading offshore wind project. The collaboration aims to ensure the safe and efficient installation of the turbines and the overall completion of the project.
This contract aligns with the growing demand for renewable energy solutions in the deep sea foreign transportation of freight industry. As countries strive to meet their climate goals, projects like Dogger Bank C will play a vital role in the transition to sustainable energy sources.
